Its hard to be a parent

Kurt is out of town interviewing for residency and I am feeling like i'm drowning as a parent. I have had a lot of disapoimtment,grief, and failure in my life do to choices I have made or just life in general and I have caused pain to others and been caused pain by others. I hated High school and I hated the way it made me feel and the way I acted. I to this day have regrets of things i said or did because I wanted acceptance or because I felt so small and worthless. I hate that I probably caused others the same pain, and I guess all this is being sparked by things i'm reading in the news or just hearing about but it kills me to think that my choices are so wieghty and so perminant in the lives of my children. I hate that there is so much meaness out there that people cause others so much pain and heartach and that in some cases its so relentless that lives are lost from it so If I could ask for anything in this life I could honestly and with my whole heart say it would be that my kids get what they need from me to grow into the men that God wants them to be. That inspite of all my shortcomings as a parent and person that I do not scar them or hurt thier progression. That they can get good from my bad...that they learn patience form my lack of and strength from my weaknesses. I would ask that they have an extra sesitivity to others feeling that they hold all life with the utmost respect and compasson, and that no differences that others have or believe will affect my childrens ability to love and care for them and that differences will not alter the way they treat them or act towards them and I would ask that they could outlive me and that I, for selfish reasons, could know that they won't get hurt while out of my care or in my care. I would ask that they be sheilded from the pain hurtfull ignorance and talking behind thier backs, I would ask that they be strong enough to be kind and resilient in withstanding the pain that others can cause, and i would ask that they won't experience any major illnesses, that they won't make any descisions that cost them a life or that change them for worse. I would ask that instead of useing hardships to play the victom they would use them to be victorious and use them to become a strength to those around them. That they are kind and thoughtfull and always stand for whats right no matter what. That in a world where bullies get the best of sweet children and prey on thier insecurities and cause so much pain that my boys will stand strong and step in to defend someone wether they know them or not. I would ask that they be a beakon of good and strength and that they are the type of person everyone wants to be around because they radiate the christlike qualities that give hope and peace and strength. I would ask that they always get back up from a fall stronger than when they fell and learn the first time so they don't have to experience the pain over and over. I would ask that they handle peer pressure with laughter and not with consideration or with weakness as I did. I would ask that they thrive on success but not just in thier own but in the success of everyone around them. I have never felt so inadequate as a person or in any area of my life as I do being a mother. Its the most humbling, hard, frustrating, defeating, worrisome, anxioty ridden, out of my hands, impossible, frightening thing I've ever done. Yet it brings the most rewarding, beautiful, sweet, closest to God, fulfilling, amazing, incredible, awe inspiring, prescious, feeling I have ever felt. I love my Boys and I want whats best for them even if that means I have no clue what that is. I am scared out of my mind that these beautiful sweet perfect children have been placed inmy care and its my job not to screw them up. I have to say Thank you to my parents because although i'm sure they made mistakes I have only good memories of them and am very grateful for the people they are and the qualities they posess. I guess its all in Gods hands and all i can do is pray for help and strength every day so that These sweet boys can grow nto what he wants them to be, and i'll know that it'll be through his guidance and love and the peole he blesses them with in thier lives that will be the reason for any successes and I know I will be grateful to be called thier mother but I'm so scared of the journey and of all my inadequacies. I Love you Matthew James and Dilynn Perkins, you are named after incredible people who mean so much to me and I hope that having those names and having the Gosple of Jesus Christ in your lives will help shape you into the amazing people I know you can be.

So my sisters all threw a fairy princess party for thier girls and I got to do thier hair and make up and it was so much fun!!!!!! I never thought I wanted a little girl until that day but I think it might be fun:) Maybe not though I'm into the dirty boys and bug hunting to so either way is good:)

1st of all I am so lucky to have a husband that can make me laugh even when I'm in labor:) We waited all day at the hospital to get induced but apparently it was a crazy baby having day so I didn't een get put in a room until about 4;45pm on the 27th. One lady even had a baby in the parking lot!!!!! Anyways they hooked me up to ptosin and well the rest is fun from there. If any one is ever planning on having a baby or doing the labor thing I have a suggestion to make...first don't get induced lol and if you do get a birthing ball they make the contractions a bit more bearable, cause ptosin sure as heck makes them worse:) anyways Dilynn was born at 3:14 in the morning on May 28th. He wieghed 7lbs. 2 oz and was 20 inches long with a head circumferance of HUGE...lol ok it was 14 inches but thats HUGE!!!! the cord was wrpped around his neck but the Doctor was all over it and everything was fine:) When I first saw the little man I thought to myself..."I already had that baby???" no joke he looks exactly like his big bro di so I'll have to post pictures of both and see if anyone can tell a differance...its a little crazy...kinda like having identicle twins two and a half years a part:) Dilynn is named after my Dad and Grandpa who's first names are Lynn and his middle name is after my Grandfather who we called Pa who was an incredible man that meant the world to me:) He actually passed away unexpectadly on March 13th. One night while I was visiting him in the Hospital Dilynn was moving like crazy and My grandfather got to feel him kicking and I told him we were naming him after him. It was emotional and my grandfather couldn't talk but he smiled and got teary. He passed about a week later and I'm pretty sure he called in a favor for me cause Dilynn had some kidney issues that cleared up a few days later. He is a super good baby and such a blessing to have in our home:) I hate being pregnant but hte rewards are indescribable and so so so so worth it:) Matthew is being so helpful and is such a loving big brother:)

So so so sad...Matthew decided it was funny to run away from mom in the his grandma ritchie's driveway and well the outcome wasn't pretty. He tripped and fell and his ginormous head withthe momentum of the fall carried him into the bottom of the car and well the rest is covered by this huge band aid...eith eyeballs on it. I of course freaked when we were both covered in blood( not my forte) and Kurt was of course at the Hospital at work so I had to rely on my Mom who had just had shoulder surgery the day before and only had the use of one arm....that woman is a life saver and incredible. She drove us to the urgent care where they had to sedate him and do 3 stitches on the inside and 8 on the outside....would have had more but the sedation was wearing off and he wasn't having it:) He just kept screaming "i no want fix it!!!!" Poor kid. I knew it was going to happen eventually this kid is so wild and crazy and well not that coordinated just yet but it'll be a fun story later for him I guess.

The last few weeks before baby Dilynn came I was feeling sad about not having these special times with my little Matthew man. He is so special to me and so much a part of my heart that I was worried how I ould ever love anyone else so much. I am in awe of this little man and his spunk for life and the joy he finds in the smallest things...He bings me to tears (in laughter) on a daily basis with the things he does and says and I am so incredibly blessed to be his mother. I can't wait to see what he does next:)

I can't believe he's 2!!!!!! I think if I weren't already pregnant I would have had a total meltdown that my baby is 2!!!!! We decided on Chuck E Cheese for the party and we had a lot of fun...it was a little chaos but still super fun and although I don't have picture documentation for a lot of it I saw a lot of the adults being pretty hilarious on the games...my Mom was killing this sniper game and I'm not gonna lie I was super impressed and a little scared lol:) but it was fun to all be together...can't wait for Jeremiah and Carrie and their gang to get back to town so we can have them at these things to:)

So this is normaly something Kurt and I do after Matthew goes to bed but lately Matthew wants to help and he says "my make it" or "my do it" or "my help" so we let him and it was pretty funny and priceless:) again Kids make everything that much better:) Thanks Kurt for being so patient and letting him help...these are the memories worth having for sure and the ones to hold on to when life gets too busy and too crappy:) You are the best Kurt and in Matthew's words "you're great Dad"

We always have to take advantage of our Dad time since Medical School is so time consming and Kurt hardly gets to see Matthew. So when Kurt has breaks we have our favorite spots to take him:) Matthew loves explora and I seriously recomend it to anyone who lives here in Albuquerque its so fun....and I just have to say while I don't condone the not sharing his drumsticks with his Dad it was nice that he offered them to me:) seriously nice to get the appreciation sometimes from the little man...it's not always easy to be Mom but when they do sweet things like that it makes it all worth it:)

Matthew got some trains from Santa for Christmas so Kurt and him spent a good 45min putting them together....lol only to have it torn a part within minutes but I think it was the male bonding that was most important.....and talk about a lesson in patience for both of them:)

Matthew wasn't that excited to be woken up that morning but he caught on pretty fast to the present thing and loved the rest of the day:) We had a blast with him and I can't believe how much more fulfilling everything is once you have a child to share it with. So great to be a parent ..there is absolutely nothing better.

Yes I know Its April and I'm just posting Christmas Eve but hey better late than never and I really have had a lot going on in the last um.....six to eight months so forgive me...if there is anyone who still even checks my blog:) lol....So as always the family pictures taken every Christmas Eve at the Pedrotty Houshold...Hate getting them taken but love having them so I guess I should just grin and bear it right:)But at this point in the pregnancy I was still super naseouse so thats the hint of green on my face, I wore green to so that probably didn't do me any favors lol oh well:) As you can see Matthew is HUGE and I'm not so small myself:0 We found out a couple days after this pic that we are having another little boy and I could not be happier:) We still don't have a name but we are so excited to welcome him into the fam:) Matthew especially.

LOL life is CRAZY sometimes:) Anyways I love having all the kids come over to my house and I feed them pizza then we put our costumes on and head off around my block...the kids get way to much candy and its a crazy fun time but they all look so stinken cute in thier costumes almost all of which are made by my mom who is stinken amazing and talented. This year we missed our cousins Wendel Reagan and William but they'll be here next year:)

So on a whim we decided to take Matthew down to the Butte for a few days since Kurt had some much needed time off. I knew he loved water but the look on his face when he saw this much was pretty dang cute. He wouldn't even wait for me to get his suit on so clothes and shoes went right in:) OH WELL life is too short:) He got such a kick out of throwing rocks in the water with his dad and we had a great time. The water is a little nasty but you get past it pretty fast and we had a great time:)

When we finally changed into our swim jazz we just took a blanket and all the toys and set up on the bank and let Matthew at it......the kid has no fear and just kept trying to walk all the way in it was a riot:) I had to tell Kurt at one point that I was probably having the most fun I'd had in a long time just sitting there watching the two of them laugh and splash and play. Moments like that make me feel like parenthood is the best thing in the world....since there are for sures moments that don't lol but I still wouldn't trade it for anything. I am so grateful for the time Kurt had off we really got to enjoy parenthood and family:)

SAVE ME MOM!!!!!!!!

K so this probably wasn't our brightest parenthood moment but Matthew is normally so daring and fearless........He hates boats and so the whole dragging behind one on an inter tube didn't go so well but....... maybe next time? lol Oh well he cheered right up after when dad threw him in the air and I let him jump off the back of the boat over and over:) I find it crazy that he'll jump right off and under water no problem and laugh and squeal but a ride on a boat is like torture:)

AAHH....the car ride home....not the most pleasant experience as you can see from the expressions on the boys faces but we survived:)

So my brother sent me this hilarious e-mail and I couldn't stop laughing so I thought I would share the joy and remind all the moms out there how fun motherhood is and well the sacrifices we make and how only another mom could understand:) ENJOY!!!!!

A 3-year-old tells all from his mother's restroom stall.By Shannon PopkinMy little guy, Cade, is quite a talker. He loves to communicate and doesit quite well. He talks to people constantly, whether we are in thelibrary, the grocery store or at a drive-thru window. People oftencomment on how clearly he speaks for a just-turned-3-year-old. And younever have to ask him to turn up the volume. It's always fully cranked.There have been several embarrassing times that I've wished the meaningof his words would have been masked by a not-so-audible voice, but neverhave I wished this more than last week at Costco.
Halfway, through our shopping trip, nature called, so I took Cade withme into the restroom. If you'd been one of the ladies in the restroomthat evening, this is what you would have heard coming from the secondto the last stall: ''Mommy, are you gonna go potty? Oh! Why are you putting toiwet paper onthe potty, Mommy? Oh! You gonna sit down on da toiwet paper now?Mommy, what are you doing? Mommy, are you gonna go stinkies on the potty?'' At this point I started mentally counting how many women had been in thebathroom when I walked in. Several stalls were full ... 4? 5? Maybe wecould wait until they all left before I had to make my debut out of thisstall and reveal my identity. Cade continued: ''Mommy, you ARE going stinkies aren't you? Oh, dats agood girl, Mommy! Are you gonna get some candy for going stinkies on thepotty? Let me see doze stinkies, Mommy! Oh...Mommy! I'm trying to see Indere. Oh! I see dem. Dat is a very good girl, Mommy. You are gonna getsome candy!''I heard a few faint chuckles coming from the stalls on either side ofme. Where is a screaming newborn when you need her? Good grief. Thiswas really getting embarrassing. I was definitely waiting a long timebefore exiting. Trying to divert him, I said, ''Why don't you look inMommy's purse and see if you can find some candy. We'll both havesome!'' ''No, I'm trying to see doze more stinkies...Oh! Mommy!'' He started to gag at this point. ''Uh - oh, Mommy. I fink I'm gonna frow up. Mommy, doze stinkies aremaking me frow up!! Dat is so gross!!''
As the gags became louder, so did the chuckles outside my stall.. Iquickly flushed the toilet in hopes of changing the subject.. I beganto reason with myself: OK. There are four other toilets. If I countfour flushes, I can be reasonably assured that those who overheard thisembarrassing monologue will be long gone. ''Mommy! Would you get off the potty, now? I want you to be done goingstinkies! Get up! Get up!''
He grunted as he tried to pull me off. Now I could hear full-blownlaughter. I bent down to count the feet outside my door. ''Oh, are youwooking under dere, Mommy? You wooking under da door? What were youwooking at? Mommy? You wooking at the wady's feet?'' More laughter. I stood inside the locked door and tried to assess thesituation.''Mommy, it's time to wash our hands, now. We have to go out now,Mommy.'' He started pounding on the door. ''Mommy, don't you want towash your hands? I want to go out!!''I saw that my wait 'em out' plan was unraveling. I sheepishly opened thedoor, and found standing outside my stall, twenty to thirty ladiescrowded around the stall, all smiling and starting to applaud. My first thought was complete embarrassment, then I thought, where's thefine print on the 'motherhood contract' where I signed away every bit ofmy dignity and privacy? But as my little boy gave me a big, cheeky grinwhile he rubbed bubbly soap between his chubby little hands, I thought,I'd sign it all away again, just to be known as Mommy to this littlefellow.

So I could not get a jolly picture of Santa on Holloween I think he was a little confused which holiday it actually was:) He did however love trick or treating and everytime we rang a doorbel he would squeal and wave and say hello. I can't imagine how he'll act in the future when he actually participates and gets candy.

We chose Santa one because Matthew is a Happy fat and jolly little munchkin, two almost all little kids sit on his lap. Wierd I know but true. Little kids crawl over and sit on his lap deliberatly so I had mentioned a couple months back that he was like santa. Three believe it or not Kurt has been listening to Christmas music since Matthew was born in January and he left the Christmas lights up outside(not lit of course) since last Christmas, and started lighting them the day after Holloween. So He's a big fan and I thought that he would get a kick out of Matthew's costume. I had a wig and beard and everything but Matthew was barely cooperating for the hat so I lost that battle. It was fun to dress up though.

Surgery

So having kids is the best and hardest thing in the world. I don't know what I would do without him but dang does parenting put you through the ringer. I feel about fifty and probably look older than that with all the sleep deprevation but again LOVE IT!!! So as a parent you always worry right? Well a couple weeks ago Matthew got a little dot in his eye and we took him to the doc's and they said no biggie probably just a mole or something. To make a long story short , after more appointments we discover that it's some kind of foreign object that needs to come out so within twenty four hours Matthew was put under and this tiny thing was removed. Worst day ever. I can't imagine having to do something like that for something more seriouse and I know people do it allthe time but man I was a little stressed out. All is well now and the actual surgery only took minutes. Poor little man, He sure hammed it up though we dressed him in his UNM scrubs like his dad which was appropriate cause his surgery was at UNM.

Matthew at seven months

So I know it has been forever cause the last pics I put up are of Matthew at three months and these are seven months. Whats really sad is he's actually already eight months so I'm a little behind. He's getting so big so fast It is incredible. I can't remember him as a tiny baby, and I can't believe how much he's changed. He is crawling around the house and pulling himself up on anything and everything. In the last few days he's also been letting go of the furniture and just standing. It is insane. I'm not ready for the walking yet.
Kurt and I haven't been up to a whole lot. He had some extra time this summer during his internship so we took a trip to Ohio to visit his relatives. .Matthew had some fun and excitement while we were there and he started eating real food so as you can see made him chewier and pretty dang happy. Other than that we've been trying to catch up on all the movies and dates we've missed out on since he's been in med school. He'll be done with the lecture/class portion of med school in December then he'll take boards in February. His third year starts in April I can't believe how fast the time is going.
Matthew's a pretty happy kid in general as long as he's being entertained and well fed of course. He loves the zoo and swimming. He's also pretty vocal, He Say's mama, Dada, hi and bye and waves. There may be a few other words we just don't quite know what they mean. He defiantly knows what he does and doesn't like and he lets us know. He growls to it's pretty funny. I'm always entertained:)

All in all motherhood is keeping me extremely busy, but I love it. I wish I didn't have to work on top of it but I think I would miss my job and all my clients. I love what I do but I also don't want to neglect Matthew at the same time. I don't know how people do both full time. It's pretty rough. On a lighter note this is an awesome park to take the kids to. It's over by Coronado mall, and It is really clean and new. That's random I know but I was pretty impressed. These pics were taken by a client friend of mine Tina Roberts. She did a great job so if anyone needs any pics I've got the number. She does family pics to.

Well rylee tagged Matthew awhile ago but life has been a little crazy, so as far as tagging goes I now have to write seven things I love about this little man, first I love his eyes and his expressions, I know he doesn't talk yet but he says so much with the way he looks at me and his eyebrows and most of the time I just stare at him.

I also love that he is a total ham and loves to talk and laugh and smile. The other day I had to take him to the doctors because he had gotten a pretty bad cold and lost his voice. I swear had the doctor not heard his cough she probably would have thought I was crazy to bring him in. He was just smiling and laughing and everything she said he thought it was so funny so he would smile and blow bubbles and try to talk, but it was more af a pathetic raspy whisper than his usual loud voice. He had all the nurses and doctors laughing. It was so funny and yet hearing him all raspy was so sad. I think he thought his voice was funny cause he was definatly smiling away. I love that he already has such a strong will. At one point when the nurse was putting the sensor on his finger to check his o2 stat he decided it was taking too long so he tried to pull it off. when she wouldn't let him he looked at her made a grunt and then proceeded towards her hand with an open mouth ready to chomp. I about died it was pretty funny.

I also love that he looks so much like his dad and is out going like him to. It is so fun to see him interact with everyone and he's not shy as of now so that is great. I love his concerned look and his scowel when he's trying to figure out whats going on. But his big happy smile and his laugh with his dimples all showing could probably get me to do anything for him. I think I'm in trouble for the future but oh well, I just can't help it. This little man is so fun.
He thinks he is so big now. He's always trying to sit up and he's doing pretty good on his own but he's not always 100% stable so I have to sit close, and he loves to stand up. I can't believe how fast the time is going he'll be five months next week on the 10th. Crazy! If only pregnancy flew by that fast!!

I love the way he looks when he sleeps, and definately love all his roles:)He is so squishy and soft it is so fun to sqeeze him and kiss him. He even has roles on his fingers ans toes, whats not to love. I love the chewy babies. the bigger the better:)

Matthew James has changed soooo much. It's crazy to compare Bath time pics just from week to week. He is so much fun and He rolled over for the first time today at fifteen weeks. It probably took him a little longer than most cause He's already a stout eighteen lbs. and thats a lot of weight to be throwing around. We're are having a blast with him though, It's so fun to be able to interact with toys and books now.

Kurt is extremely busy being in his first year of Med School and trying to balance school work , a new baby and me:) He is so great with Matthew though and it is so fun to see them together, it's like Matthew is his little mini me:) My favorite is when they fall asleep together, and Matthew smiles in his sleep. You can tell He really loves his dad.

Not much to say about me I'm a workaholic trying to balance work and a new baby. I love being a mother and would rather stay home with my new little man but I also love my job and the people I get to work with and work on. I think having Matthew James is the best thing that I've ever done and he's defenatley the best thing that has ever happened to me. I love being his mother so much it hurts sometimes.

We blessed Matthew James today and surprisingly enough he was quiet and well behaved throughout the whole thing. I only say that because he normaly has a ton to say, he was born talking. He even got to wear his dad's baptisimal outfit from when he was a baby. He looked adorable and it was so fun to get to have my own baby blessed. Sometimes it's hard to beleive we are parents, but we love every minute of it.
